Area Recordings x Aspen Concepts Competition : NPR

This beautiful, tree-lined sidewalk on the fringe of the Aspen Concepts Competition campus was the right location for this Area Recording. Whereas it appeared nice, it was quiet for a really quick time. Earlier than the present, our workforce feared the sprinklers would spray our “stage” like they did throughout the arrange. Close by, a crew was disassembling a big stage and heavy building autos beeped continually. I pleaded with the forewoman to name a brief break so we might take pleasure in this efficiency with out interference.

MILCK, aka Connie Lim, ready patiently to begin the set, pulled out a guitar, sat on the bottom and entertained the viewers till the noise stopped. A lot greater than a singer and songwriter, Lim is a proficient storyteller and activist who makes use of her music to encourage advocacy. One of many songs on this set, “Sisters of Winter,” is about perseverance, strengthened by the ancestors in our veins. This fall, the track shall be used on the nationwide ACLU marketing campaign collection the place MILCK shall be an official spokesperson.
